The people of Okun-Owa Community in Ward 3, Odogbolu Local Government Area of Ogun State, have commended Governor Dapo Abiodun for the commencement of reconstruction work on the Okun-Owa–Ijebu-Ode Road, via Agoro and Ikangba.

The road project, which residents say has been long awaited, is expected to improve transportation and facilitate commercial activities across Okun-Owa and neighbouring communities.

The governor had previously identified the road as one of his priority projects. Contractors have since been mobilised to the site, where construction work is ongoing.

Speaking on behalf of the community, the Councillor representing Ward 3, Hon. (Amb.) Hammed Yusuf Moboluwaduro, commended the governor for initiating the project and acknowledged the contributions of political leaders and other stakeholders in facilitating its commencement.

Those he mentioned included the Executive Chairman of Odogbolu Local Government, Dr. Babatunde Oyetola Diya; the member representing the constituency in the Ogun State House of Assembly, Hon. Lukman Olalekan Adeleye; the Governor’s Liaison Officer, Hon. Ladejobi Shuaib; and the member representing Ijebu-Ode, Odogbolu and Ijebu North-East Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Barr. Olufemi Adeleke Ogunbanwo.

He also recognised the efforts of All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders, party members and other stakeholders in the area who advocated for the project.

Yusuf said the commencement of reconstruction had raised expectations among residents, noting that the completed road could ease movement, improve access to markets and businesses, and support economic activities within the affected communities.

He expressed hope that the project would be completed on schedule and in accordance with the required standards to ensure its long-term benefits.

The councillor also thanked the governor for responding to the community’s concerns, assuring him of the residents’ continued support.

The Okun-Owa–Ijebu-Ode Road serves residents, commuters and businesses within the area. Its reconstruction is expected to improve connectivity and reduce the difficulties associated with travelling along the route.

Residents will be looking forward to the timely completion of the project and the delivery of its anticipated benefits.
